The Shedshaker Taproom in Castlemaine is embracing its French side on Bastille Day on July 14 with a dinner and cabaret show package not to be missed.
Guests will enjoy a sumptuous three-course meal and the acclaimed cabaret comedy show Under the Paris Sky starring local talent Georgia Darcy.
Shedshaker director Jacqueline Brodie-Hanns said going French for the night would be a lovely change from the popular Italian-inspired fare usually on offer at the Taproom.
“We cannot wait to host a fun French night and present a beautiful meal and a great show in our bigger Taproom,” she said.
“Our marvellous chef Bec Murphy has developed a wonderful menu featuring Bastille Day classics, such as duck, beef, seafood and of course, a lot of French cheese.
“There will also be vegetarian and vegan alternatives – we will have something for everyone.
“We will also have French-style wines available for our guests to further enhance the evening.”
Entertainment will be a night of song and fun with Under the Paris Sky, a cabaret comedy show that promises no need to know a single word of the language.
Star of the show Georgia Darcy said she and her partner Louise Lawson had been writing, producing and performing cabaret shows for 12 years, taking their shows all over Australia and also to France to the prominent Avignon Performing Arts Festival in 2015.
The pair settled in Campbells Creek about 12 months ago and local audiences may have been lucky enough to catch one of their performances at the 2025 Castlemaine Fringe Festival.
“I am looking forward to bringing this show to the Taproom and enjoying a night of gloriously French fun!” Georgia said.
“Of course we will be sharing some Édith Piaf songs and other French classics as well as some newer contemporary songs.
“We provide a bit of background and the story behind each song so you can really immerse yourself in a night of French entertainment without being an expert in the language.
“But of course our local community has a lot of French groups and classes with a French flavour so I’m sure it will also appeal to those who love the language and culture,” Georgia said.
Guests can buy a ticket for the dinner and show or just a show ticket if preferred.
