Riddells Creek Landcare is inviting the community to explore unique bush on Riddells Creek’s doorstep.

Barrm Birrm is 130 hectares of bush on the edge of the town that supports high-value woodlands and threatened flora species.

The land was previously subdivided into 162 lots, and some portions sold off, but planning controls prevented development there.

About 20 years ago, Riddells Creek Landcare took on the job of looking after the land and in 2022, Macedon Ranges Shire Council committed to making the area a conservation reserve.

Riddells Creek Landcare is hosting a walk into Barrm Birrm on Sunday, August 31, to see two of the four threatened species: both acacias in bloom now.

“Cinnamon wattle and dwarf silver wattle are stars,” Ross Colliver said.

“They look amazing right now! This is one of their strongholds, and now is the time to see them.”
