Swap meet to be big

The October 26 event will include new awards for vehicle entrants, plenty of stalls with all kinds of goods and children's entertainment including face painting, fairy floss and a jumping castle.

Clarkefield Swap Meet is expected to be bigger and better than ever with 4×4 and car shows a big drawcard this Sunday.

Last year’s event attracted 250 show cars and 90 4x4s, as well as 120 stalls for people to browse, and interest for this year has only grown.

The October 26 event will include new awards for vehicle entrants, plenty of stalls with all kinds of goods and children’s entertainment including face painting, fairy floss and a jumping castle.

There will also be various food and drink vendors on site and, of course, the ever popular Lancefield Romsey Lions Club barbecue.

Shannons Insurance will award the trophy for the Best Overall vehicle across the 4x4s and cars entered.

Trophies for cars will be awarded across eight categories: Best British, Best European, Best British, Best Japanese, Best GM, Best Ford, Best American and Best Australian.

Trophies for 4x4s will be awarded across seven categories including the new Best Flex award. Other categories are Best Mall Crawler, Best Tourer, Best Rough Rig, Best Chick’s 4×4, Best Modified 4×4, and 2025 Showstopper.

A major fundraiser for the Lancefield Romsey Lions Club, this year’s event aims to raise funds towards the next big community project.

Entry for cars and 4x4s is $15 (driver only), additional passengers are $5. General entry to the grounds is $5 and free for children aged under 15 years. Stall sites are $20.

The swap meet will be held at Clarkefield Reserve on Sunday October 26 from 8am to 2pm.

The Clarkefield Oval is located at walking distance from the V/Line service for easy access.
