Ghanaian master musician Atongo Zimba is coming to Castlemaine, offering a rare chance for locals to experience the energy of African folk music in an intimate setting.
Atongo is known as one of the great ambassadors of West African sound. He has played Womadelaide and has just returned from packed houses in Hobart and the Cygnet Music Festival.
Having performed with legends like Fela Kuti and Angelique Kidjo, audiences can expect a rich, immersive journey—where the oral history of West African griots meets highlife, Afrobeat, jazz and funk.
Atongo has achieved international acclaim with hits like No Beer in Heaven. His Trio’s shows promise to connect with the soul of Ghana through music that is joyful, raw and rhythmically powerful.
One show only at 7.30pm, this Friday, January 30.
The Coolroom, Northern Arts Hotel Castlemaine.
