Poets present on women

Anne Gleeson and Angela Costi will present together at the Kyneton Library next month.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Kyneton Library is hosting a one-hour session of poems, stories and chat from 2pm on Thursday, March 5.

Presenting poets, Anne Gleeson and Angela Costi, who are known for their advocacy, will speak of women they love and admire, and present a unique perspective on others whom we only know through the media.

Angela, a former lawyer who has moved from advocating through the law to advocating in the more intimate space of poetry, presents a unique perspective on women such as Lindy Chamberlain or the Cypriot women from whom she is descended.

Anne, who also writes for those whose stories would otherwise not be told, is adding some poems of local women to her personal stories and poems of better-known women. There will be time for questions for those who enjoy that interaction and space for those who prefer to listen.

Everyone is invited, but the library prefers bookings, either through their Events page or by phoning 5422 1365.
