Excitement is building as the mystery thriller Deathtrap (written by Ira Levin and directed by Bette Sartore) opens in just 10 days at the Kyneton Masonic Centre, 7 Yaldwyn street West.

Sidney Bruhl, once a successful playwright is drowning in treacle. After 18 years of flops, his creative juices have all but dried up, and he desperately needs a sure-fire Broadway hit to rescue his battered ego.

He’s been mailed Deathtrap, written by an aspiring author Clifford Anderson, seeking his opinion, and it’s an absolute cracker! He invites Clifford to his remote Connecticut cottage to chat further, perhaps to collaborate. As the evening moves on, and despite his wife Myra’s helpful suggestions, a tense stand-off occurs, and it gradually appears that things are not actually what they seem.

Added to the mix in this fabulous ‘play within a play’ is the friendly family solicitor Portia Milgrim, and the renowned Dutch psychic, Helga ten Dorp, with her dire warnings of danger and visions of death.
