Why aren’t we all talking about climate change? The eerie silence that descends on a room when anyone attempts to discuss it is unnerving and disturbing.
The present drought throughout the majority of NSW and north of the Dividing Range in Victoria is raising new questions.
What will happen if the spring rains fail? Will we see widespread die-off of the Australian bush?
Mildura has only recorded 44mm of rain for the year. To put that in perspective, California’s Death Valley has an average of a little more than 50mm each year; without a spring break much of the Mallee and Northern country will face a new and unprecedented extreme.
Why aren’t we all talking about this possibility?
