It’s not hard to see why people are afraid to express an opinion on climate change when you read this paper over the last couple of weeks. The lefties seem to come from everywhere to bully and ridicule anyone who dares to express an opinion different to theirs.
I don’t consider myself to be a conservative zealot, delusional, corrupt, wealthy or powerful as suggested in Opinions in the July 31 edition of the Midland Express, nor is the matter done and dusted.
I read with interest Ian Jone’s letter in the Castlemaine Mail, August 3, saying computer modelling suggests global temperatures had risen by four degrees Celsius last century. Why use computer modelling when the actual figure is there for all to see? The actual figure is 0.8 degrees Celsius. Some argue this is due to human activity while others argue that this is simply natural variation of the sun’s heating and cooing cycles. Either way it’s too difficult to call. So much for computer modelling.
I also read with interest the number of climate change bodies that put out self-damning statements. Take the International Climate Council website which apologises for exaggerating the effects of climate change. Earlier this year this same body also had a small article in the Herald Sun which stated that “this report is free of editing and political interference” and went on to say that “in the absence of any other cause we conclude that climate change is real”. Gee, that really nails it.
So who can be trusted these days when trying to find untampered-with data on this subject? Well you certainly can’t trust universities and government bodies which all seem to be tainted with the same leftist brush.
