David C. Cunningham, Castlemaine
There is more than one person called David Cunningham in Castlemaine. I would like it to be made clear that the author of the letter from one of these David Cunninghams published in your edition of September 11 was not me, and that I do not share his views on the causes or effects of climate change and global warming.
I am not a climate scientist but, acknowledging my scientific ignorance, I prefer to trust the overwhelming opinion of the vast majority of those who are: that human-induced climate change and global warming are very serious problems, likely, in the short term, to result in an increased frequency of severe and sometimes catastrophic weather events, and, in the longer term, unless harmful emissions are drastically and urgently reduced, to result in climate changes which may well prove a disaster for the future of life on earth.
