A great community effort

Alma Vebergang, Kyneton

Another Daffodil Festival has come and gone, yet after so many years, a huge success judging from the huge attendance at the parade – many from far away places!
The committee are to be commended in their year’s work in organising the event.
Apart from the committee, so many have given their time and energy into making the annual event such a huge success.
It was the result of the cooperation of so many. It does not just happen, and after a short break next year’s event will be in the pipeline.
Should you have ideas to improve, join the committee – or let your suggestions be known!
Already there are changes ahead. The daffodil barrows were missing this year, why? One man had for years been rising at 4am to prepare the rubs and plant the bulbs so they flowered at the right time!
Each year he has become one year older and now “the back is bent and the snow is in his hair”.
Let us not take so much for granted. The golden glow has to be attended.
Private gardens, streets and the Avenue of Honour were a sight to behold!
Kyneton was a grand sight, a big surprise and great pleasure for so many who travelled from away.
A mighty thank you to all who assisted in any way, especially the president and secretary of the committee. Leaders of a great community effort.
