Kym and Stephen Cross, Campbells Creek
As organisers of the Jarrah’s Fight for Sight GoFundMe campaign and last month’s Concert for Jarrah in Campbells Creek, we would like to convey our deep gratitude to the Midland Express for the pivotal role the paper played in getting Jarrah’s story out into the wider community.
Thanks to the articles and updates the Express has run over recent weeks, Jarrah’s story has been picked up by other media organisations including ABC Local Radio, Nine News Central Victoria, Channel Seven Melbourne and ABC TV News 24 Breakfast. Thanks also to the generosity of many people throughout Mount Alexander Shire and from further afield, the collective fundraising efforts for Jarrah and his family have far exceeded all expectations. In addition, the Concert for Jarrah held on Sunday October 21 was a massive success with well over 200 in attendance enjoying great music performed by five amazing musicians. To the delight of everyone in attendance, 10-year-old Jarrah briefly joined the band on electric guitar for a rendition of AC/DC’s TNT, something we are certain Jarrah and his family will remember always.
So to management and the editorial team at Midland Express and Castlemaine Mail, please accept our heartfelt thanks for your invaluable contribution in making this wonderful young boy’s future all the more brighter.
