Green space needed

Jill Loorham, Castlemaine

The vacated secondary college campus at Etty Street would be a great space for training, education and business as proposed. However, the oval and other areas that have until now provided open space and garden should be retained. Our world and our town needs to cherish trees, plants and grass as places of quiet contemplation away from the busy-ness of our daily lives. The site is large enough to ensure green space is kept intact.
And an additional idea: If the property is used in this new and practical way, perhaps the old hospital site could become a village for self-supporting older people who currently languish at home, desperately wishing to share their solitary (and sometimes very lonely) lives. I would be the first in line if such a project became real.
Forward thinking: The spaces are there.
The lives of all people are important.
