Some 2100 properties in and around the Kyneton Airfield will be affected by proposed Local Law number 12. This represents almost a third of Kyneton’s population.
The Local Law, if implemented, will result in 2100 properties having a permanent overlay attached to their property’s title.
This will have a significant negative impact on property values. Local real estate agents have confirmed to me that properties with such an overly would be more difficult to sell.
The median house price in Kyneton last year was $553,750. Even a five per cent reduction in price would mean a loss of $28,000.
I hope our Macedon Ranges councillors consider very carefully the impact of this proposal.
