In the light of the horrendous shooting in Christchurch this week, maybe there is some tiny glimmer of hope.
Maybe people will begin to realise the evil places to which hatred can lead.
Maybe people will realise that, every time they express negative or hateful thoughts about asylum seekers and refugees, whether Muslim or not, they are adding to the mood of hatred.
Maybe they are adding just a little bit, but adding they are.
Let’s all stop adding to the hatred – let’s become, in the words of Jacinda Ardern, a country that values diversity, kindness and compassion.
