Newstead played host to Harcourt last Saturday in round three action in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League.

The visitors stamped their authority on the game from the outset kicking four goals to one to take a 19-point buffer into the first break. The Lions went on to eventually win by 23 points in a low-scoring affair. Final scores were Harcourt 9-9 (63) to Newstead 6-4 (40).

Best for the Lions were Brayden Frost, Darby Semmens, Paul Chaplin, Alex Code, Kyle Hamilton and Kristian Bruce.

Best for the Steaders were Anthony Robins, Rhys Smith, Mason James, Tyler James, Steven Shovan and Cordie McKendry.

In other matches Maldon produced a strong 40 point win over Royal Park at home and Campbells Creek went down to a dominant Natte Bealiba.

In this week’s matches Campbells Creek hosts Maldon, Harcourt welcomes Lexton and Newstead makes the trek to Talbot.
