The Castlemaine Football Netball Club’s inaugural Senior Women’s Football team completed the ultimate fairytale claiming victory in the Central Victoria Football League Women’s Premiership at the Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo on Friday night.
The local side put on a show in front of a packed crowd kicking 5.8 (38) to defeat Golden Square 2.7 (19).
Goal kickers for the Magpies were Shelby Knoll, Jemma Finning 2 and Ella Cochrane.
This is the first year Castlemaine FNC has had a women’s football side and the Castlemaine club has been proud to watch them go from strength-to-strength this season.
Coaches Jordan and Tiahna Cochrane congratulated the side on a fabulous end to a top season and sent a big thank you to all those at AFL Central Victoria, their club and the community who supported the team this year. Bring on 2023!
