Trentham’s Terri O’Callaghan is pictured after scoring a four-stroke victory in Dalhousie District Golf Association’s women’s championship for 2022.
It was O’Callaghan’s first win in this annual prestige event, played at on the Broadford course.
Participants were pleased to be back playing golf after missing many events in October and November due to unplayable wet courses.
O’Callaghan, who plays off a handicap of 14, shot an 88 off the stick to defeat DDGA president Mary Campbell (Broadford) by four strokes.
Campbell won the Champion of Champions title and the day’s A-grade handicap award with her 94-15-77.
Trentham’s Helen Young took off the B-grade scratch event with a 94.
Lancefield’s Kaylene Richmond won the B-grade handicap with a 74, on a countback from Yea’s Vicki Clements.
The C-grade scratch award went to Broadford’s Cynthia Thomas with 107.
The Mary Dockery Trophy for the best nett score across the whole field saw Natasha Richards put her home course knowledge to good use, shooting 108-36-72 in her first Dalhousie event.
The DDGA was very appreciative of the day being sponsored by the Bendigo Bank with the bank’s David Wheeler presenting the main trophies.
To cap off proceedings, outgoing women’s captain Beryl Cole (Romsey) was presented with a daphne plant in recognition of her contribution to district golf over the past two years.
