Fresh from his win in the Hanging Rock Cup on Australia Day, Swan Hill-trained galloper Bannerton will be trying to add the 2023 Woodend Cup to his collection tomorrow (Saturday).
The $30,000 Massey Ferguson Woodend Cup has attracted a small field on the nine-event program at Kyneton.
Bannerton is trained by Austy Coffey, and will be ridden tomorrow by Neil Farley, who is very familiar with the Kyneton track.
The five-year-old has been allocated equal topweight for the 1850m event.
Bannerton finished strongly to easily win the Hanging Rock Cup over 1800m on Australia Day.
The Kilmore-trained Storm Colours, to be ridden by in-form jockey Jack Hill, has won two of his last three starts, the latest at Wangaratta, and is expected to be well in the market.
Pre-booking packages have sold out, and the meeting is expected to have a party flavour.
The first race is at 12.16pm, and the meeting winds up with race nine at 5.16pm.
Free shuttle buses will bring racegoers from the Kyneton railway station to the course at 12.15pm and 12.45pm, and run a return service.
The first race on Kyneton & Hanging Rock Racing Club’s program is at 12.16pm.
