Gisborne Soccer Club’s 13A girls team has taken out Football Victoria’s Metro Community League championship for the second year running.

Playing at the top level for 13s in the Community Metro League, the team finished on top of the ladder for the North West region.

They played in the grand final on Sunday September 15 against Chelsey FC, who was top of the ladder for the South East region.

Coach Vince Ryan said he was immensely proud of the girls and all they had achieved over the last three seasons.

“The hard work, dedication and commitment from each and every player on the team has rewarded them with winning the championship back-to-back,” he said.

The grand final was a thriller. With the score tied at 2-2 after extra time, Gisborne won an intense penalty shootout 3-2 and were crowned champions.

The girls were grateful to have Matildas superstar and co founder of Future Baller Football Clinics, Chloe Logarzo, there to cheer them on and congratulate them at the end of the game.
