Castlemaine Cycling Club members Jade Maddern and Hope Harnetty travelled to Brisbane last week to compete in the 2025 AusCycling Track National Championships at the Anna Meares Velodrome March 26-30.
Jade, 28, representing Victoria for the fourth consecutive year, competed in the Elite Men’s division in the 1000m Time Trial, Sprints, Keirin and Team Sprint.
Hope, 17, representing Victoria for the third time, competed in the Under 19 Women’s division in the Sprint, Time Trial and Keirin.
Both riders excelled throughout the competition improving on their personal best times against the top riders from Australia.
Hope and her Victorian teammates were unlucky to just miss out on a bronze medal on Tuesday evening in just .2 of a second.
On the final day on Sunday, Hope rode another PB in the Keirin to finish sixth overall.
However, Jade Maddern and Vic teammates, Sam Gallagher and Nik Papadakis, were thrilled to take out the bronze medal in a tight contest against Western Australia in a blistering time of 45.163 on Sunday, capping off a top campaign.
