Jesse Sheppard has become the first footballer to reach the 300 games mark for Woodend-Hesket Football Club.
His extraordinary leadership, on-field talent and dedication to be a ‘one club’ player was strongly acknowledged by the WFNC on Saturday.
The fine utility player captained the Hawks and was there for an extended period when regular success on the field often proved elusive.
The Hawks were formed when Woodend and Hesket clubs amalgamated in 1978.
Sheppard and wife Bianca have two children, Ayla 7, and Aston 5. Decked out in club colours, they were carried by their dad through a large ‘300 game’ tribute banner before the Reserves match against Melton South.
One of Sheppard’s closest friends, Jarrad Arnold, came from Perth to play for the Hawks on this special day for one of the club’s finest.
The 300-gamer has yet to decide whether he will play again for the Hawks in 2026.
