There’s a feast of football at the Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo this Sunday, July 13.
The Bendigo League is looking forward to the senior and Under 19s matches against the Victorian Amateur Football Association.
Young Gisborne star James Gray will captain the Under 19s, with the side’s head coach Jason Stevens describing him as “a natural leader since day one”.
Gray is a standout figure who has turned in consistent performances at Gisborne this season.
Campbell Johns and Lachlan Evans are the other two Gisborne players in the Under 19s side.
Curtis McLennan is Castlemaine’s sole representative, and the side will contain the very best in emerging talent across the league.
The match begins at 11.30am.
SENIORS AT 2PM
Bendigo’s senior side will be out to make amends for last season’s loss to the VAFA.
Senior coach Simon Rosa is impressed with the commitment and talent of the final squad of 26, which includes Castlemaine coach Michael Hartley.
Gisborne has five players hoping to make the final lineup.
The Gisborne reps are last season’s BFNL captain Jack Reaper, forwards Harry Luxmoore and Matt Merrett, Zac Vescovi and Shane Clough.
Rosa thanked the players and their clubs for being so open and accepting of the league’s Rep Football ambitions.
“We’re expecting a high-quality match against the VAFA, and the boys are excited to represent the league with pride at the QEO,” Rosa said.
