Eighth-placed Romsey caused a major upset by defeating top A-grade netball side Woodend-Hesket by 13 goals on Saturday.
The Hawks were below full strength but found the inspired Redbacks had come to play despite missing the finals.
Clearly disappointed after the 53-40 loss, Woodend-Hesket coach Ty Coppinger said her side had a week to “turn it around” and be in top form for the finals.
The Hawks are chasing a third successive A-grade flag, and play Riddell in this Saturday’s qualifying final at Romsey.
There were two close matches In the final home and away round.
Fourth-placed Macedon beat Melton Centrals 44-41, and Wallan downed third-placed Gisborne Giants 45-42.
Fifth-placed Lancefield 57 (Shanae Brundell 50) defeated Diggers Rest 48, and Kyneton had the biggest win of the final round, demolishing Melton South 103 to 20 (Matilda Candy 66, Michelle Fletcher 37).
