Excitement is building as a new local family prepares to open HeadStrong Fight Club in Newstead, bringing high-quality boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for local kids and families.
Launching this weekend, the family owned and operated fight club aims to inspire confidence, discipline, and fitness in young people through martial arts.
Head coach Amedeo Gallicchio has been coaching kids and adults in boxing for over 20 years and previously owned and operated Headstrong Boxing in Melbourne, running both kids and adult classes. Partner Jess Louchard and their whole family (kids included) now trains Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under black belt coach Jihad Bekai at their affiliate club G-Force Mixed Martial Arts in Fawkner, where they also help run the kids classes.
Amedeo is a purple belt in BJJ with over 12 years of training, and Jess is a blue belt, with both passionate about sharing martial arts with children in a safe, supportive environment. Their love for martial arts comes from seeing the confidence, resilience, discipline, and physical strength it builds in kids, both on and off the mats.
Everyone is invited to join them for their Open Day this Sunday January 25 at the Newstead Rural Transaction Centre from 10am to 3pm.
This event will be a great opportunity to meet the family and see martial arts in action with demonstration classes and interactive activities.
Classes are going to run out of Newstead Community Centre starting Tuesday February 3.
As they prepare for classes to start when school returns, they’re hard at work finalising their class schedules, refining their training spaces, and making sure all equipment – from mats to gloves – is ready to go. They are reaching out to local schools and family groups to share opportunities to get involved and help spread the word.
