Early start for cricket

Gisborne District Cricket Association matches tomorrow (Saturday) will start at 11am.

The Gisborne District Cricket Association hierarchy has ruled that all matches tomorrow (Saturday) will start at 11am.

This move has been made in the light of forecasts for extremely hot temperatures right across the GDCA area.

A drinks break will take place every half hour.

Water is to be carried by the square leg umpire where there is only one official umpire in charge.

The association hopes that common sense can be applied to combat the heat, and players are advised to rotate in the shade/off-field where possible.
