Looking for their fourth premiership in a row, Woodend-Hesket A-grade netballers defeated an improved Kyneton 59-42 on Good Friday.

Again under the leadership of star defender and Ryan Medal winner Ty Coppinger, the Hawks took to their own court with a formidable combination.

Several players in the lineup have high-level credentials including former Vixen Kaylia Stanton, and they are already being labelled as the team to beat in the Riddell League this season.

Playing as a team unit is a paramount edict for the Hawks, and this was evident.

Kyneton unveiled high-profile recruit Kristiana Manu’a, an Australian Diamond and former captain of Samoa.

Her high level ability was very evident, and the Tigers expect Kris to fill the role formerly occupied by dual Ryan Medal winner Tilly Shepherd, who has transferred to Gisborne.

Kyneton stalwart Katie Fish played her 150th game for the club, and was in the Tigers’ D-grade side which won 26-19.

The Tigers also won a close B-grade contest 42-37.

Woodend-Hesket made it a treble with wins in C-grade (43-22) and the Under 19s (71-8).
