The saga of Wallan star Jake Carlisle jumping the fence early in the Riddell League semi-final against Kyneton resulted in a third tribunal hearing last night.
The final outcome was that the former Essendon and St Kilda player was ‘outed’ for two weeks on the misconduct charge, which became the subject of an RDFNL appeal after the first night’s hearing.
Last Thursday the tribunal handed down a suspended sentence of two weeks — this decision meant Carlisle was free to play in Saturday’s preliminary match when Wallan defeated Riddell.
The big man was one of Wallan’s best players in a closely contested match.
Last night’s decision means Wallan will go into Saturday’s grand final facing an even more difficult task than anticipated to try to topple powerhouse Diggers Rest.
The Carlisle case has attracted wide media attention.
It seems unlikely that Wallan will appeal against last night’s decision.
