Gisborne netballers came home from the Queen Elizabeth Oval with two premierships on Saturday.
Capping off a successful season, Gisborne B-graders totally outplayed Strathfieldsaye to win the grand final 53-26.
Shooter Rylee Connell was in dynamic form, and scored heavily, with the ‘Dogs always in control.
The Gisborne team comprised Rylee Connell, Taylah Ranieri, Monty Paton, Tarryn Rymer, Lulu Slater, Charlotte McMurray, Liv Fenn, Adele McKibben, Bridget Salter and Lily Prater.
It was back-to-back premierships for Gisborne in B-Reserve, being forced to work hard by Kangaroo Flat before prevailing 42-38.
Macey Drayton (Gisborne) received the best on court medal.
The Gisborne side comprised Shelley Farrugia, Sappy McCarthy, Lily Prater, Holly Brewer, Monique and Adele McKibben, Macey Drayton, Caytlyn Walker, Polly Salter, Bec Merrett and Bridget Salter.
Gisborne was elated to clinch two netball flags in the club’s final season in the Bendigo League.
The netballers appreciated the strong support from spectators, and they enjoyed watching Gisborne footballers secure another flag in the late afternoon.
Celebrations were certainly in order for the netballers following the wins, and they continued at Gardiner Reserve on Saturday evening, and beyond.
OTHER GRADES
Powerhouse Kangaroo Flat led throughout to win the A-grade premiership for the second consecutive season, beating Sandhurst 64-54.
South Bendigo won its first-ever A-Reserve flag by edging out Kangaroo Flat 42-40.
