Memorabilia plea for club’s 150th

Looking at history: Ben Way, Romsey Cricket Club's captain-coach for the past decade, with the GDCA A-grade premiership shield won in 1982-83 against Bulla Village. Geoff Pitts captained the Redbacks, with Rob McIntyre — who made a century — vice-captain.

Help us to bring 150 years of memories to life! This is Romsey Cricket Club’s plea to past and present players, families and supporters. And to anyone else able to help.

It comes less than three weeks before the Redbacks hold a gala evening to celebrate this important milestone.

The club is planning a special memorabilia display showcasing the club’s incredible history at the 150th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, November 21.

Who has a piece of Romsey CC history tucked away at home?

# Old trophies and medals;

# Scorebooks and historical records;

# Team photos and newspaper clippings; and

# Old cricket gear, uniforms or other memorabilia.

The club would love to hear from anyone who has something they would be happy to lend for the occasion.

President James Collins, vice-president Jake East, secretary Tim McCarthy and treasurer Ruth Collins are the club’s current executive members.

Those wishing to attend the special function at the clubrooms on November 21 have until this Friday, November 6, to make their bookings.

Past and present players, members, families and friends are looking forward to reflecting on 150 years of memories of this proud club.

The night will feature special guest speakers, a panel discussion, and a combined sharing of stories and highlights from across the generations.
