New ruckman joins Riddell

Hamish Everett has joined Riddell as a ruckman.

With inspirational captain-ruckman Josh Grabham sidelined for the rest of the season, Riddell unveiled a big replacement in Hamish Everett (pictured) on Saturday.

Everett, 26, comes with good credentials from Rokewood-Corindhap in the Central Highlands League.

“I’m really looking forward to playing for the Bombers,” Everett said.

He’s still getting to know his team mates and has been getting some advice about what to expect in the Riddell League from Grabham, who sustained his season ending leg injury when tackling a Lancefield opponent on June 3.

“It happened in the last minute… I couldn’t believe it,” Grabham said at the Riddell versus Woodend-Hesket match on Saturday.

Everett is a theatre technician at St John of God Hospital in Ballarat, and played with Sebastopol before joining the Grasshoppers (Rokewood).

Riddell, last season’s premiers, has not had a good time with injuries but the tide has begun to turn with four wins in a row.

Beating Wallan, and now Woodend-Hesket by a big margin on Saturday, has put the Bombers back on track for a title defence.

Before joining the Grasshoppers (Rokewood) he played with Sebastopol.

Over the next two weekends fourth-placed Riddell plays Macedon and then Romsey before having the bye.
