The three breweries of Castlemaine are joining forces to help raise money for Movember.
Shedshaker Brewing, Old Slang and Love Shack breweries have come together for the first time and have made a classic Australian Lager, the proceeds of which will be donated to Movember, which is raising money to tackle a range of men’s mental and physical health issues.
Shedshaker Brewing general manager Adam Perrett said the idea of bringing the breweries together seemed like an obvious thing to do.
“For many blokes, having a chat with a mate over a beer is the natural place to talk to about the tricky stuff,” he said.
“Whether it’s mental health issues, or weird lumps or other concerns, many of us men aren’t real good at opening up and seeking help.
“Anything we can do to help, from raising money to simply encouraging men to talk and to seek help, seems like a no-brainer.
“We will have kegs at our Taproom, at Love Shack, the Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine and Red Hill Hotel in Chewton and the profits from these sales will be donated to Movember.”
It all kicked off on Wednesday November 1 with a launch at Shedshaker’s Taproom at The Mill complex in Walker Street. A few brave chaps got a shave on the night to help kickstart the campaign, with other events planned during the month. The fundraiser will culminate in an end-of-Movember party at Love Shack in Hargraves Street, Castlemaine.
“We encourage everyone to visit one of the supporting local venues, enjoy a pint of lager and help support the campaign,” Adam said.
Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
