Rain impacts two-day fixture in CDCA

Rain affected play in a number of matches across the Castlemaine District Cricket Association last weekend. 

A Grade and A Reserve sides were scheduled to play a two-day encounter and will aim to compete their clashes this weekend. B Grade played one-day matches and C Grade (Under 16) also played a one-day fixture where weather allowed. The Women’s Division is scheduled to return to play round four matches this Friday evening. 

Highlights of the round were Barkers Creek A Grade batsman Bailey Henderson’s 105 not out against Maiden Gully Lions and Harcourt B Grade player Christopher Cassidy’s 87 not out against Guildford. Best with the ball were Guildford B Grader Levi Bruce with 5-42 and Castlemaine United Blue C Grade bowler Thomas Gordon with 4-2. Results were: 

A Grade 

Muckleford 9-213 (Declan Slingo 63, Edward Gingell 44, Brett Cole 32, Daniel Peckham 20; David George 3-33, Alister Brasher 2-12, Gabriel O’Sullivan 2-31, James Chaffey 2-56) made a solid start against Castlemaine United at the Camp Reserve. 

Maiden Gully Lions won the toss and sent Barkers Creek 6-d/271 (Bailey Henderson 105 not out, Darby Semmens 41, Sean Smith 20 not out, Mark Noonan 19; Mitchell Hancock 2-19, Leo James 2-44) in to bat at Marist College/ Solar1 Electrical Oval. Maiden Gully Lions made a shaky start to their first innings and were at 2-7 at stumps on day one. 

Guildford v Newstead – no results. 

A Reserve 

Harcourt made a quick fire 10-210 (Lachlan Mika 52, Tom Kelson 40, Harley Brereton 29, Scott Thompson 28, Koby Simmons 20; Charles Bunting 3-27, Alex Ross 3-28, Adrian Parsons 3-73) against Guildford. 

Newstead 8-252 (Sam Reece 50, Bradley Richardson 45, Alex Murphy 39, Lachlan Park 28, Charlie Chapman 18 not out; Luke Kneebone 3-52, Aditya reddy Bommareddy 2-52) made a good start against Castlemaine United on day one. 

Muckleford v North Castlemaine – no results. 

Barkers Creek v Taradale – no results. 

Maiden Gully Lions had the bye. 

B Grade 

Taradale 8-150 (Brock Fletcher 68, Lyndon Vearing 32 not out; Private Player 3-14, Seth Gross 2-15) lost to Muckleford 5-163 (Private Player 59, Jack Smith 36, Jack McLeod 20; Lyndon Vearing 2-27). 

Guildford 6-134 (Jarryd Moore 30, Aston Elliot 25, Jack Casley 18) lost to Harcourt 8-233 (Christopher Cassidy 87 not out, Zac Nicholson 38, Macklin Simmins 30; Levi Bruce 5-42, Chris Richards 3-41). 

Newstead 5-171 (Gerald Chapman 58 not out, Ben Christmas 54, Chris Elderfield, William Garsed 18 not out; Thomas Gordon 3-37) defeated Castlemaine United Blue 8-167 (Adam Smolak 70, Ben Moran 29, Bohdi Perry 25; Fianna Gardner 2-26, Chris Elderfield 2-30). 

Heathcote v Hepburn – Match Abandoned. 

Campbells Creek Colts and Castlemaine United Gold had the bye.

C Grade (Under 16) 

Newstead 3-51 (Eve Righetti 16) lost to Muckleford 6-140 (Jack Smith 31 retired not out, Chloe Butcher 19 retired not out, Ed McEachran, Seth Gross 13 not out; Elwood Ebery 3-10). 

Castlemaine United Gold 7-101 (Gabriel O’Sullivan 22, Charlie Cordy 13; Fletcher McAinch 3-8) lost to Harcourt 3-149 (Mason Chamberlain 33 retired not out, Jack Archer 33 retired not out, Koby Simmons 30 retired not out, Sam McLean 17 not out). 

Barkers Creek/Campbells Creek 8-29 (Lewis Murray 11; Thomas Gordon 4-2, Patrick Brasher 2-2) lost to Castlemaine United Blue 0-154 (Declan Brasher 22 retired not out, Harper Kneebone 22 retired not out, Oliver Grainger 21 retired not out, Samantha Brasher 16 retired not out, Patrick Brasher 13 retired not out). 

Colts Phelans v Carisbrook – no results. 

North Castlemaine/Guildford v Maryborough – no results. 

Women 

In the Women’s Division this Friday evening from 6pm Hepburn host Barkers Creek, Castlemaine United Gold face Guildford at Camp Reserve, Campbells Creek Colts welcome Castlemaine United Blue and Harcourt will host Newstead at Harcourt Recreation Reserve.
