Iconic Castlemaine business Pud For All Seasons has joined forces with Amazon Australia to create a world-first ‘Aussie Christmas Pudding’ that launches today.

The award-winning traditional and gourmet pudding producers have partnered with former Brisbane-based MasterChef contestant and experimental recipe savant, Montana Hughes, to create the limited edition pudding, which complements the unique flavour combinations of Australian Christmas while paying homage to contemporary Australian culture.

Pud For All Seasons Karen Kelly said she was excited to partner with Amazon and Montana on the exciting limited edition offering.

“This has been about two years in the making. We have thrown around some pretty crazy ideas but eventually settled on the flavours of the Aussie cob loaf – think sweet and savoury,” she said.

“At its base is my grandmother’s original plum pudding recipe, which is more than 80 years old, with a savoury twist including bread crumbs, caramelised onions, cheese, rosemary, dried fruits and garlic.

“Montana has also created three sauces to complement the pudding, which people can make at home to enjoy the pudding their way.

“We have sourced the best ingredients from across the country and come up with a new flavour that is really unique. In fact, my staff tell me it’s their new favourite!”

Montana said it had been a fantastic collaborative effort and she was delighted to have the chance to visit the small-batch producer in Castlemaine late last week and see the local team in action.

“There have been a lot of catch ups on Zoom, over the phone and discussion over the email,” she said.

“My mum and my sister have also weighed in and tasted numerous samples along the way. I’ve been quizzing them, can you taste the garlic? The cheese? I’m really proud of the final result and I hope it’s something that is going to revolutionise pudding and introduce it to a new generation of Australians.

“Who knows, maybe in years to come the cob-loaf pudding will be an Aussie Christmas table staple!”

Locals will need to be quick to snap up one of the unique puddings with only several hundred up for grabs. They are available exclusively via the Pud For All Seasons store on Amazon for just $10.
