Airing one’s opinion in a public opinion forum as a tribal identifier or as a public announcement of where we stand is fine, but when false claims are made then they should be challenged, as they were over the last few editions.
It’s probably wiser not to attribute imagined views to people you’ve never engaged with and have no idea about.
I can understand why one would be afraid to be seen as going against the crowd. For 60 years you’d have been publicly pilloried if you’d advocated plate tectonics theory but now it’s the paradigm.
Sceptics were proved right about Piltdown man but for 40 years the scientific consensus were convinced.
Groupthink and ignorantly following the leadership and scientific expertise of popstars and politicians is the blind leading the blind – Appeal to authority and appeal to consensus were recognised logical fallacies 2500 years ago.
We’re in the midst of the planet’s sixth mass extinction event. We’re party to enormous natural habitat destruction, yet what are we wasting all our energy, love and money on?
The rivers, forests and creatures of the natural and material world are sacred and valuable in their own right, not simply for carbon credits in a global derivatives scheme for extracting trillions from citizens and governments on the false pretence of ‘saving the planet’! We primates evolved in lush primeval rainforests when global temperatures for 40 million years were consistently 5°C to 14°C warmer than now. Colossal universal forces have always changed climates, often dramatically.
Former UN climate change head Christina Figueres, said, in a speech at the Rio conference, “Climate change doesn’t matter anyway, it’s all about wealth redistribution”.
UN IPCC official Ottmar Edenhofer said, “One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate
policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore”.
