Ex-AFL star to play for Tigers

Michael Hibberd will line up for Kyneton against Macedon on Saturday.

Former AFL star Michael Hibberd will line up in a one-off appearance for Kyneton against Macedon at the Showgrounds on Saturday.

With a stellar 197-game career behind him with Melbourne and Essendon, Hibberd should receive an enthusiastic welcome from Kyneton’s players and supporters.

An All-Australian in 2017, the talented defender was a member of Melbourne’s drought-breaking 2021 premiership side.

Kyneton playing coach Ethan Foreman was instrumental in Hibberd coming to Tigerland this Saturday to play — they work together in a major fire service.

While the Tigers are second on the ladder and Macedon seventh, the RDFNL sixth round senior match should be a very good contest, with both sides having an array of talent.

Last weekend Kyneton beat Melton Centrals 21.7 to 10.6, while Macedon went down to Wallan by 13 points.

“Let’s pack the Showgrounds and get around ‘Hibbo’ as he runs out with the boys” is the message from Kyneton FNC.

The Kyneton club anticipates a big attendance, specially as it is Ladies Day for the club, with celebrations kicking off from 1pm.
