
A year defined by excellence, dedication and relentless pursuit has seen Kyneton District Soccer Club’s women crowned Central Victorian League 2 – Championship winners.
This much-anticipated Champions Ladder Celebration after Sunday’s match honours this year’s players and shows a season of outstanding success. This has been a cumulative effort of developing players over many years as well as embracing and welcoming the new. Many of the Kyneton players have been nurtured and developed at KDSC over many years, most starting in the Mini-roos program years ago.
The winners of the championship represent the pinnacle of performance in the Central Victorian League 2 Women’s, with the women’s team recognised for their dedication, commitment and success throughout the year. The Kyneton Maroon Women, with one game remaining, have won 15 of their games throughout the season. The team has collectively shot 98 goals thus far, for the season, placing the team clearly on top of the ladder.
The Kyneton Blue Women’s team secured a top four finish on the table board. KDSC had a very strong squad to fill two exceptionally competitive teams for 2025. Both women’s teams have been guided by coaches Ron Cole and Simone Hooppell whose pride is evident.
“We are so thrilled and proud of all the Women players on their achievements this year,” Hooppell said.
KDSC has worked hard to create a positive, welcoming environment for all. It boasts a culture to celebrate hard-work, determination, team cohesion and connection.
“The technical skills of our players is one of our strengths, as well as the depth of our squad across the two teams,” Hooppell said.
The Winners of the Championship celebration serves not only to reward top local talent but also to energise the entire club future talent. The Women will be promoted to the Central Victorian League 1 for 2026.
“As we head into the Super Cup finals, one message is clear, the journey to the top is better when taken together,” Hooppell said.
The celebration also highlights the success of Kyneton District Soccer Club, highlighting key milestones, developing gender equity with females/ LGBQTIA+ represented as 40 per cent of players, an increase in overall performance with 15 of 18 competitive teams making the finals for 2025 and three ending on top of the table including the U16 Mixed, U12 Mixed Blue and the Womens. The club celebrates its growth of 31 teams for 2025, collectively strengthening the sport locally.
