This season, the Kyneton Rangers U16A Mixed team achieved more than just victories—they set the standard for unity, respect and lasting friendship.
Under head coach Gavin Waterson’s calm leadership and fitness coach Craig O’Bree’s focus on wellbeing, the team thrived in an environment where every player felt valued. Captain Riley Crozier’s leadership inspired the squad, while training sessions were as much about building character as skills.
The Rangers’ achievements were outstanding: Championship winners and Super Cup winners, with only two losses all season.Goals Conceded at only 6 in 15 games.
Their success was a true team effort, with standout performances from Maximillian Cheeseman, who made 55 saves as top goalkeeper, and Cael Kelly, the league’s top striker with 13 goals. Each player contributed, supporting one another both on and off the pitch.
Even in defeat, the Rangers rallied together, demonstrating dignity and respect. The deep friendships and culture of support forged this year are their greatest legacy. Coaches, managers, parents and volunteers created a family-like atmosphere, turning dreams into reality.
Above all, the Rangers’ season was defined by sportsmanship and respect for opponents. Their humility and pride, whether winning or losing, set a standard for future teams. As we celebrate this remarkable group, we are reminded that true success comes from the values we hold and the bonds we build.
Coach Waterson’s words captured the spirit of the season: “We win together, we also lose together. You were classy all the way.”
