Cannons and Rockies into CBL final

The Castlemaine Cannons and the Macedon Ranges Rockies are set to face off in the Country Basketball League North West grand final showdown this Saturday evening December 6 after each side won their respective semi-finals.

Castlemaine hosted the at the Mildura Heat in their semi-final clash at the War Memorial Stadium at Wesley Hill last Saturday night.

The Cannons jumped out to an early six-point lead in the opening term netting 16 to 10.

Castlemaine continued to dominate in the second term shooting 26 to 14 to hold a handy 18-point lead at half-time.

The side maintained the momentum in the second half to run out winners 85 to 50 and claim a spot in the final.

Jake Lloyd was on fire shooting a total of 21, Ray Turner chipped in with 17. Best on Court was Jake Lloyd.

The Macedon Ranges Rockies welcomed the Melton Thoroughbreds to the Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct on Saturday night.

Macedon started on the right foot bagging 28 points to the Thoroughbreds 22 in the opening stanza.

The Rockies upped the ante in the second term slamming on another 33 points to Melton’s 26.

The visitors bounced back in the third shooting 29 points to 25.

However, Macedon rallied in the final term shooting 25 to 23 and ran out winners 111 to 100.

Jack Dohmen-Jolly 27, Jacob Poyser 19, and Flinn McGinty 15 led the way for Macedon. Best on Court for the Rockies was Hakaraia Tahi.

The Castlemaine Cannons and Macedon Ranges Rockies will now vie for grand final glory at the Cobblebank Stadium at Melton this Saturday night, December 6 at 8pm. The Cannons looking to go back to back after their 2024 success and the Rockies hoping to topple the Cannons and claim the hallowed title. The sides have only met once this season with the Cannons coming out on top by 16 points. Be sure to be courtside for what is anticipated to massive showdown between the top two sides.
