Gisborne Golf Club was on fire again, but this time it was a good fire — winning the Northwest Regional Pennant final against Bacchus Marsh.
Matt Dean led the team to Eynesbury to secure the prestigious title contested by 12 clubs in the region.
The final concluded when Matt Laing won his match on the 16th to make an official 7-5 margin (a couple of games were still in progress).
Over the season 22 players, including three juniors, represented Gisborne. They won four out of five home matches and the divisional final against Melton Valley.
But success is achieved by more than just the players. The team was supported by caddies and volunteers who put their hands up every week to marshal the matches and assist on match days.
On top of winning the final, Gisborne midfielder Paul Chapman was undefeated in all seven matches, winning the MVP: a title equivalent to a Brownlow.
