Local Macedon Ranges singers, Tasha Luke, Rexine Perry, Lucy Watson, Erin Haberecht, Kate Kennedy and Katy Somerville, will this month present a cavalcade of songs from an array of musical theatre shows including 42nd Street, Les Miserables, Funny Girl, Company, Waitress and more, accompanied by pianist Dan Rigby.
Tasha, Rex and Lucy have been performing around the Ranges for the past few years as ‘The Sunsets’, as well as at the Romsey, Macedon and Lancefield Carols, Kyneton Rotary and Lancefield Markets and Romsey Ecotherapy Park. They are thrilled to have Erin, Katy and Kate join them to make ‘The Sunset Six’.
Dan is the accompanist for Kyneton Theatre Company, as well as organ scholar at the Anglican Parish of Gisborne and a member of the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra.
Tasha grew up surrounded by the Sydney theatre and dance scene and, since moving to the Ranges, has also performed with Pollyphonics Choir and a capella group Takt.
Rexine performed in UK theatre for many years, before returning to the Ranges, where she has performed with the Redesdale Revellers and in shows such as The Vessel.
Lucy performed musical sketch and stand-up comedy in Melbourne and London, including several Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows, and also sang in bands, before moving to the Ranges.
Erin attended the Ballarat Academy of Performing Arts, before performing in productions such as Kiss Me Kate, Company, Rent and Chicago, and with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
Katy has performed in about 45 productions with companies such as Shepparton Theatre Arts Group, Castabout Productions, Bendigo Theatre Company, and Altona Theatre Company.
Kate has performed as a solo artist, as well as with singing groups Burnt Honey and Takt, and in shows such as Downtown: The Mod Musical.
The gang have also performed with Kyneton Theatre Company in shows such as Mamma Mia!, The Wiz, Legally Blonde and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat – and the upcoming musical showcase, Broadway, Baby!
They are excited to bring you this original ‘mixtape show’ celebrating the incredible music of Broadway and the West End.
The show will be held at 2pm on Sunday June 21 in the Gisborne Uniting Church.
Tickets at the door – $25 adult, $20 concession/student, with afternoon tea to follow the concert.
