Man wanted, police car rammed in Romsey

Police are on the hunt for a man who rammed a police car with a stolen vehicle in Romsey yesterday and fled the scene.
Sargent Mark Sims said police had located a silver Kluger in Romsey believed to have been stolen six weeks ago from the southern-metro area.
Sgt Sims said police had received several notifications of “erratic driving and drivers being run off the road”, identifying the stolen vehicle without number plates.
When an unmarked police car activated its lights to intercept the driver, the offender accelerated and rammed the front end of the police car. No one was injured.
Police followed the vehicle until it was dumped at Gordon Crescent and the offender fled on foot. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
A search involving air wing and dog squad and other police units failed to locate the man.
Police are seeking information on the whereabouts of the man, and incidents involving the vehicle, including dash-cam footage and witness accounts.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Macedon Ranges Crime Investigation Unit on 5421 2900.
