Let’s celebrate – New women’s group forms in Macedon Ranges to celebrate diversity

A new group has formed in the Macedon Ranges that aims to celebrate women and their cultural origins.
Women Of Macedon Ranges Equality Network (WOMEN) was born from a conversation between three Kyneton locals from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Terry Morley from the Philippines, Maryla Korinfsky from Poland and Teaote Davies from Kiribati saw a need for a supportive, inclusive network that celebrated women.
The group has a number of events planned throughout the year, the first of which will be a picnic lunch for International Women’s Day on March 8.
Members are asked to bring a dish to share, ideally one that reflects their own country of origin.
The group also hopes members and guests will dress in national costume or of a style that reflects their cultural background.
“By sharing stories and food, we hope to cultivate spaces of learning and loving,” they said.
The picnic lunch will be held from 10am to 2pm at Zen Memorial Garden, 545 Kyneton-Springhill Road, Kyneton. Tea and coffee provided.
New members are always welcome and you don’t have to come from an overseas country to be a member of this group. Their facebook page is Women Of Macedon Ranges Equality Network.
Any donations of fruit, bread or any other treats would be welcome.
