A historic Kyneton home will feature in an upcoming episode of ABC TV’s Restoration Australia.
Host Anthony Burke met the couple who purchased the magnificent property, The Lawns c1890s, in Wedge Street.
Fed up with city life, the Boyers bought the delightful four-bed Victorian manor house ready for some changes.
Fifth generation Kyneton native Shannon and his wife Liza fell in love with the stately home and paid $1.6 million for the heritage-listed property set on almost 3000 square metres of land.
The project is a masterclass in authentic restoration, using highly skilled heritage tradespeople with a collective goal to resurrect this significant historic building.
Also to feature in the episode is an interview with Kyneton Historical Society secretary Larina Strauch.
Producer Mark Hanlin said The Lawns was a premium example of Victorian weatherboard architecture.
“We also look at the history of the area and how the house fits into the landscape of modern Kyneton,” Hanlin said.
“We always like to include historical perspective and interesting facts, especially about how the house came about, why it was built, and why it’s important to keep and restore.
“It’s a great episode and I think people will love to see it.
“It was a very pretty town to photograph, I really enjoyed shooting around Kyneton, it’s just beautiful.”
The episode will be aired on October 31 at 7.40pm on the ABC.
