‘A Night for Matty’ is taking place in Mount Macedon on Saturday in support of Matt Bennett, a Lancefield local who is facing a devastating cancer prognosis.
Many in the Macedon Ranges community would know Matt. In August 2017, Matt was diagnosed with stage four testicular cancer.
Despite undergoing numerous rounds of grueling treatment, at just 29 years of age, Matt has received the devastating prognosis that the cancer is incurable.
‘A night for Matty’ will be held at the Mount Macedon Golf Club on Saturday (September 8) from 6pm-11pm to support Matt and his wife Megan.
The night will include live music from local duo Bridie and Isaac, retro games (like Twister and Jenga), head shaves, and a live auction of quality donated items and experiences.
Event organisers have been overwhelmed by the generosity of local Macedon Ranges and Sunbury businesses in donating items.
Items up for auction include: a family MCG pass for two adults and four children, a two hour horse and cart ride through Kyneton (valued at $250), Mount Macedon Hotel voucher (valued at $100), Calderlink firewood (valued at $500), six private piano lessons and original local artworks.
The Melbourne Renegades Cricket Club has also been wonderfully generous, donating a cricket bat signed by the entire 2017/18 squad, including test cricketers Dwayne Bravo, Cameron White, Jon Holland, Joe Mennie and Bradley Hogg.
All proceeds raised on the night go directly to Matt and his wife Megan.
