The aged-care workforce in Australia is made up of more than 360,000 people working in nursing, personal care, allied health, catering, cleaning, leisure, administration, maintenance and more to contribute to the care and wellbeing of older people.
RM Begg Kyneton Aged Care will celebrate these dedicated team members on Aged Care Employee Day on August 7.
CEO Meredith Grant said she was immensely proud of the care the facility’s staff provided to their residents.
“This day is to celebrate the wonderful work they do, which at this time of COVID-19 is of even more importance,” Ms Grant said.
“It is a challenging time for all our staff members as they balance the safety of our residents while still ensuring their social engagement and inclusion.
“With restrictions in place, the wearing of PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure the safety of our residents, no longer being able to have our usual number of hard-working volunteers and a high level of personal strain, the pressure on our staff in immense, yet they still manage to go above and beyond to provide the best possible care.
“One of our lifestyle team members has written: ‘RM Begg is a family and during these times of COVID-19 the team has become even tighter. Whatever role is played, the interaction with residents is a beautiful thing’.”
If you know someone who works in aged care, not only at RM Begg, please give them your support and thank them for caring for our aged community.
