For many, the humble scone is just something to enjoy for morning or afternoon tea, with jam and cream, or maybe just butter!
But for the Country Women’s Association of Victoria – scones hold much more weight.
Every year at the Royal Melbourne Show, CWA ladies bake and sell scones to the masses, breaking their previous baking record year on year.
This is the CWA of Victoria’s biggest fundraiser with an incredible 15,565 scones sold over last year’s 11-day Royal Melbourne Show event. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the Royal Melbourne Show has been cancelled – but this has not stopped the CWA from trying to break their record.
On Saturday October 17, CWA branches across the state will be selling scones in an effort to break this mighty record.
Locally, the Kyneton Twilighters CWA Branch will be hosting a ‘click and collect’ style scone sale at Kyneton Toyota at 24 Bourke Street from 9am-12pm. Scones can be purchased individually for $1.50, six scones for $9 or 12 scones for $18. You can even upgrade your order to include a pot of jam and cream for an extra $5!
