Like the rest of the world, the Victorian Goldfields Railway has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The Castlemaine and Maldon Railway Preservation Society has had to stop running public services and is not sure when it will get permission to resume.
However, the wonderful team of dedicated volunteers has not been sitting idle, it has been very busy improving the railway – working on the track, locomotives, carriages and buildings so the popular tourist railway can offer an even better experience when it is able to resume operations. But this all still requires money coming in the door.
So, while VGR is not running trains, it has some fantastic gift vouchers and experiences on sale for future travel at hugely discounted rates!
For a strictly limited time you can save up to 50 per cent on family tickets and their luxurious first-class service and an amazing 30 per cent on their unforgettable steam and diesel locomotive driver experience packages. So jump online and snap up your gift voucher today and help keep VGR on track!
Alternatively you might like to support the volunteers with a donation to one of their many projects such as their major Castlemaine Redevelopment Project; the restoration of steam locomotive K160; the ongoing restoration of their rolling stock; the never ending work on track conservation and preservation; and the efforts of their Young Volunteers Team.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you can choose what you would like to contribute and how often.
VGR president Steve Strangward said more than ever community support was vital to their ongoing viability and success.
“Your contribution during this difficult time will ensure we can keep working on our projects and not lose momentum,” he said.
