Gisborne dancers have dazzled at Disneyland, Universal Studios, and the prestigious main street parade.
A troupe of 31 dancers from Gisborne Dance Academy made a special trip to the USA last month.
Dancers showcased a 25-minute set created by GDA’s artistic director Sarah Morton at two performances.
“Their professionalism and strong performance ability really added a touch of magic to the already enchanting atmosphere of Hollywood,” Sarah said.
She said the highlight was the Main Street parade that served as a “grand finale to the trip of a lifetime”.
Beyond the stage, the dancers participated in immersive workshops led by top choreographers at Playground LA and Disneyland.
They had the chance to hone their skills and gain invaluable insights into the world of professional dance.
Sarah expressed her delight at witnessing her students thrive in such a vibrant environment.
“It’s not just about the performances – it’s about broadening horizons and nurturing a love for dance,” she said.
“This trip opens doors to opportunities that were once unheard of in our community, empowering our dancers to dream big and explore new possibilities.
“The feedback received from the audience and industry professionals alike served as a testament to the talent and dedication of the young dancers. Their seamless performances and unwavering passion left a lasting impression, leaving their dance community incredibly proud.”
For GDA this trip marked not only another milestone in their journey but also a promise of a future filled with endless possibilities for their aspiring dancers.
