Kyneton Ridge Estate has won two national awards within a matter of weeks for their Skipping Rabbit Pinot Noir.

On October 7 at the 2025 Australian Pinot Noir Challenge there were eight awards available for the best pinot noir in different regions across Australia. Those were: Geelong, Adelaide Hills, Macedon, Orange, Western Australia, Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley and Tasmania.

Kyneton Ridge Estate was voted the best Pinot Noir from the Macedon region. The winery followed up this win at the International Cool Climate Wine Show and won the award for the Best Pinot Noir Wine in Show.

Kyneton Ridge owner Andrew Wood reflected on the double win and said the Skipping Rabbit Pinot Noir was a classic taste.

“What does it mean [to win]? I think it’s recognition of the Macedon Ranges as a pinot producing region,” he told the Express.

“It’s a wine that presents very well as a young wine. It’s quite a fruit-forward wine and it’s very approachable.

“The making of wine has been around for thousands of years as an agricultural pursuit. And the best wines in the world are made from locations and sites where there is an absolutely deep understanding of what is right for that location. And to do that, it’s not a single generation pursuit.

“You need to think about how you’re going to sustain the environment and the land on which you’re working for many years into the future. And I believe, also, it’s the right thing to do, making sure that you are leaving the land on which we’re working in better condition than we found it.”
