Plenty of pride – pack a picnic…

Organisers and supporters of Castlemaine's Pride Picnic in the Park get set for this week's series of events and attractions including Saturday's Picnic and Sunday's debut Castlemaine Glam Slam tennis event.

Whatever the weather, there’ll be rainbow colours sparkling across Castlemaine this week with a broad spectrum program of Pride events in store – starting today.
The homegrown series of Pride attractions began yesterday with the Rainbow Steps Walking Group at the Botanical Gardens followed by a walking tour of Castlemaine’s LGBTIQ+ supportive businesses set for Thursday morning.
Friday features a Yellow Brick Road social catch up at Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal, followed by an LGBTIQA+ dance party with DJ Hot Wheels.
Then on Saturday everyone – and their canine companion – is invited to pack a picnic hamper and head on down to the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens for the annual Pride Picnic, 11am-5pm, featuring live entertainment, food, wine and beer – and the first-ever Pride Picnic dog show.
Sunday marks Castlemaine’s own debut Glam Slam tennis event.
Hosted by Castlemaine Lawn Tennis Club, the glamorous on court comp will be one of the first such Glam Slam events to expand out from metro Melbourne to regional Victoria.
Saturday’s free Pride Picnic is being presented by Castlemaine Community House in partnership with Castlemaine District Community Health with CHIRP also organising events throughout the week.
